My Fitness Journey
When I was 9 years old I joined a swim team and absolutely loved it. It quickly became my main sport, which I continued competing in through high school. I attended Emory & Henry College my freshman year, a small DIII school in southwestern Virginia with a newly established swim team.
After freshman year I transferred to George Mason University, a larger DI school closer to home. After 3 year here I completed my NCAA career, but still had another semester of school left because of lost credits from transferring. I had a few friends that were on the GMU club powerlifting team and they encouraged me to join.
My passion for powerlifting quickly grew. I loved learning something new, using my muscles in a way that I hadn’t in swimming, and how strong and empowered I felt when I would set a new PR. I still enjoy swimming, but have mainly focused on powerlifting since graduating in 2017.
